Designed by renowned artist and graphic designer Václav Špála in 1920. Wonderful early twentieth century design classic wooden toy from the Czech Republic.
Špála designed this for the Artěl cooperative which had a shop in Prague and held exhibitions, presenting ceramics, textiles, furniture, toys and beads. Franz Kafka, who lived in Prague, was a keen customer of their designs. Handmade and hand-painted official reproduction of the original in the collection of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague. Among our absolute favourites!
Please note: these are collectibles – reproductions of vintage toys and should only be played with by children under supervision.
